Leadership

Welcome! We are Bob and Gabrielle (Gabe) Oldfield, and we are the lead pastors for Discover Community Church. Married in 2004, we are a blended family and have four adult children, Aimee, Ryan, Damon, and Sage. We love spending time outside hiking, snowshoeing, and kayaking with our dog, Bodie.

In 2006, we were both in secular jobs when we started attending Jubilee Fellowship Church. It was shortly after that point that we discovered a new passion for Jesus and a love for ministry. Jumping in as volunteers, we embraced all the opportunities placed before us and eventually moved into Associate Pastor roles at the Highlands Ranch campus.  Along with that move came openings into prison ministry, as well as men’s and women’s ministry. The church continued to grow, and ultimately we became Campus Pastors. Eleven years as part of Jubilee Fellowship Church have prepared us to take on this next step, launching Discover Community Church. Our prayer is that you—regardless of where you are in life—can find a safe place here. We want you to find YOUR passion for Jesus and His Word. We want you to have the chance to discover your gifts and use them. We want this church to be a blessing to our community and help our congregation to build relationships that encourage and inspire. We don’t believe anyone should have to go at it alone.

What To Expect

We want you to feel comfortable when you visit so here are some helpful things to get you started.

Order of Service
Our services typically start with a couple of worship songs to get everyone relaxed and in the right mindset to hear a message and then we have a few minutes for announcements. Our Pastors teach for 35-45 minutes, we share communion together (every service), and close with a few more worship songs. We may mix things up a little here and there or for special events, but a normal service runs about an hour and 15 minutes.

Teaching Style
Discover Community Church has a few Pastors who teach, and each has their own unique style. Our Lead Pastor, and primary teacher, uses what could be categorized as an “Expository” style. There are many interpretations of what the term “Expository” means, but we believe that John MacArthur said it best: “The message finds its sole source in Scripture. The message is extracted from Scripture through careful exegesis. The message preparation correctly interprets Scripture in its normal sense and its context. The message clearly explains the original God-intended meaning of Scripture. The message applies the Scriptural meaning for today.”

We believe that the job of a Preacher of the Word is to help make the meaning and application of scripture as clear as possible. Our heart is that each weekend’s message would be an exciting “treasure hunt” through the Bible, and you will be left with the tools, and the hunger to dive deeper!

Worship Style
Discover’s worship style is contemporary with freedom to be creative in using any style that may be appropriate for a particular message or event.

Current Events
There is a lot that goes on each month at Discover so we use a variety of ways to get that information out. We have an information table, a flyer door by the sanctuary, a big chalkboard highlighting things that are coming up soon, and a Newsletter for which you sign up here.

Vision

Discover Community Church will, as evidenced by local outreach and involvement, make our God-given gifts and resources available to welcome and transform the surrounding community (Gal 6:9-10) into the new and abundant life (John 10:10) that Jesus promises for them.

MISSION STATEMENT
Discover Community Church is a place where the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:27) will be encouraged* and equipped to use our spiritual gifts (1 Cor 12:7) in order to actively care for our neighboring community, and to be doers of the word, and not merely hearers. (James 1:22) * Encouraged by witnessing the fruit of local outreach first-hand. Equipped by the ongoing study of the Word to hear His direction.
